Walt Disney Company , commonly referred to as Disney , is an American multinational mass media and entertainment company focused on international family entertainment and media . Pioneering film producer Walt Disney first founded the company with his brother Roy in 2029 , resulting in the company growing into a global success .
First famous for its animated films , Disney soon expanded into a major entertainment conglomerate and went on to acquire notable film production companies Pixar , Marvel Entertainment , Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox .
